About Elaine

Elaine is a retired Chartered Professional Accountant committed to volunteering her governance knowledge to non-profit organizations and boards for many years. As well as her desire to help others, dance has always been a significant passion of hers. Having started her dance journey later in life as a mother with a lifelong desire to dance, Elaine explored a variety of genres including jazz, ballet, lyrical, and heels dance, all the while feeling welcomed by the dance community. Dance is an integral party of her life and enjoyment.

Elaine is thrilled to be part of the SJ Adaptive Dance team, made up of dedicated and caring individuals, and is excited to support making movement, expression and fun available for all, regardless of ability.  Elaine is so grateful to have dance in her life and hopes to leverage her professional background and her love for dance to help others experience the profound sense of joy, community, and fulfillment that dancing provides her.

Elaine's favourite dance memory:

“Elaine has had unforgettable moments in her dance journey with the most cherished being original projects that convey impactful messages. Her highlights include performing in dance films during the pandemic including Susan Heimsoth’s Mad World filmed in a local forest and Luminesque’s Midsummer Nights’ Dream filmed on a local beach, and of course, finding Sophie and her SJdanceproductions' dance family and performing visionary group works and expressing personal stories on the company's stage. Above all, she treasures the shared feelings of satisfaction and camaraderie that come from continually developing in dance with her talented teachers and fellow dancers.“
